terms of use
Last updated: 30 October 2026. These terms cover the Billz app during its closed test (TestFlight) in France.
The short version. Billz lets people post small real bills and lets others choose to cover them. Covering a bill is a gift, not a purchase. Money is held by Stripe until the poster shows a receipt; no receipt means a full refund. Be honest, be kind, and never mock anyone.
During the closed test, no real money moves. Payments run in Stripe's test mode with test cards. Nothing is charged and nothing is paid out.
who we are
Billz is run by Alaa Elboudali, France. Contact: [email protected].
who can use billz
- You must be 18 or older and live in France.
- One account per person. Before you pay or post, you confirm who you are with an ID check run by Stripe.
- Keep your sign-in to yourself. What happens on your account is your responsibility.
posting a bill
- Bills must be real, in your name or your household's, and still to pay.
- Allowed: phone, internet, electricity, groceries, transport and small medical bills.
- Not allowed: private rent, taxes, gambling, adult content, crypto, loans, or anything illegal.
- Limits: up to €100 per bill, 3 open bills at a time, 1 new bill a day.
- A person checks every bill before it goes live. Personal details (address, account numbers, barcodes) are covered first. A live bill stays up for 7 days.
- You choose how you appear, including fully anonymous. A story video is always optional.
- You let Billz show your bill (covered), your caption and your video in the app, only to run Billz. You can remove them by deleting your account.
covering a bill
- Covering a bill is a voluntary gift. You get nothing in return, and the poster owes you nothing.
- You pay the bill amount plus an 8% Billz fee, shown before you confirm.
- Payments go through Stripe. Billz never sees your card number and never holds the money itself: Stripe holds it until the receipt is checked.
- If you turn on a swipe budget, a swipe right pays straight away with your saved card, up to the weekly limit you picked. You can turn it off anytime.
receipts, refunds and payouts
- Once a bill is covered, the poster has 72 hours to upload the receipt showing it was paid.
- A valid receipt releases the money to the poster through Stripe. Posters set up payouts with Stripe before their first bill.
- No valid receipt in time means an automatic full refund to the person who covered it, fee included, and a lower trust score for the poster.
reports and disputes
Anyone can report a bill. Either side can open a dispute about a payment; the money stays on hold and a moderator decides within 48 hours. If they side with the person who paid, the refund includes the fee.
be kind
- No mocking, harassing or shaming anyone. No fake bills, edited receipts or duplicate accounts.
- We can remove a bill or suspend an account that breaks these rules. We tell you why.
deleting your account
You can delete your account anytime in the app: your impact → account → delete my account. If money is still on hold or a dispute is open, it waits until that's settled (72 hours at most). What we keep and why is in the privacy policy.
what we can't promise
- We can't promise that a bill will be covered.
- We check bills and receipts carefully, but we can't guarantee every one is genuine. If something goes wrong, open a dispute.
- The app may be down or change during the test. Nothing in these terms limits the rights French consumer law gives you.
changes and law
If these terms change, we'll update the date above and tell you in the app when it matters. French law applies. If we disagree, write to us first; you can also go to the courts or the consumer mediator French law gives you.
